Juneau

View of Juneau from Mt. Robers.I just spent one day there. I wandered around a bit and took a shuttle bus to Mendenhall Glacier and took the tram up to the top of Mt. Roberts, which offers excellent views of Juneau.

I really liked the Silverbow Inn. It is an old but attractive building, with small nice rooms. The owners also run a bakery/cafe on site and the Back Room restaurant. All rooms are non-smoking and have a full bath, cable TV and clock radio. I liked that they had binders full of local info in the rooms - taxis. gym info, etc. They have books and videos to borrow and VCR you can hook up in your room. The place has lots of stairs and no elevator. All rooms are non-smoking.

Mendenhall Glacier.A breakfast buffet is included with the price of the room. It includes bagels from their bakery and other baked goods, homemade granola, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, juice and milk. I ate lunch in the bakery and had a good salad and soup.
